Online Lesson Re-Design

Select one of the following online lessons, and re-design it using the principles learned in this class. Be sure to indicate which online lesson you have chosen to re-design. This take-home final exam is due on Wednesday, December 17th, by 5pm. You may either email me the document, or put a hard copy in my EST mailbox.

Possible lessons:

• Navajo Poetry, grades 3-6, Social Studies
• Build an Animal, grade 10, Science
• Multiplying Polynomials, grades 8-9, Math

Your re-design should be a written document with images appearing throughout. In the document text, you should refer to the visuals, explaining what design choices you made and why. Your explanation of "why" should include a reference to either the textbook or my online notes. You can create the visuals using any tool, but I expect the end result to be a static visual in your document. The document and visuals will be graded on clarity, completeness, and aesthetic considerations. Your re-design must include the following:

1. Visual design of the lesson's main page. A student should be able to access all parts of the lesson from this page.
2. Example of how visuals (e.g. graphs, illustrations, photos, video) would be used to enhance the lesson. For the example given, explain what data file format you would use, and why.
3. Example of how audio (e.g. music, narration, sound effects) would be used to enhance the lesson. For the example given, explain what data file format and delivery method you would use, and why.
4. Example of how an interactive activity (e.g. game, simulation, other online activity) would be used to enhance the lesson. For the example given, explain what the student would be expected to do, and how that would enhance learning.
