Curriculum Vitae
Education:
- Stony Brook University. Ph.D. expected December 2008.
- Stony Brook University. M.A. in physics. May 2004.
- Universita’ degli Studi di Napoli “Federico II”. Laurea in physics, July 2001. Dissertation: Josephson devices for Macroscopic Quantum Experiments
Professional Experience:
- Research Assistant. (2003 - present) Stony Brook University. Performed experimental research in low-temperature condensed-matter physics. Measured the decoherence in large geometrical inductance rf SQUID qubits using pulsed microwaves. Evaluated a setup to couple flux control pulses into a flux qubit and a magnetometer. Evaluated a mechanism of decoupling a qubit from fluctuations in the bias current of a dc-SQUID magnetometer. Developed and tested a persistent flux bias for a rf SQUID qubit.
- Teaching Assistant. (Spring 2005) Stony Brook University.“Statistical Mechanics” for graduate students. Duties included grading homework and midterms, and maintaining the course webpage .
- Mentor. (Summer 2004) Stony Brook University. Worked with High School student Stanley Shang Chiang on a summer research project for the Intel Science Talent Search (STS) competition. Stanley’s work “A Step Closer to the Quantum Computer: Fabrication of Novel Superconducting Josephson Junctions to Couple Multiple Flux States of a Quantum Bit” achieved the final stage of the competition.
- Senior Research Specialist Expert. (Summer/Fall 2002) Stony Brook University. Performed experimental research in low-temperature condensed-matter physics. Studied properties of hysteretic dc-SQUID magnetometers using low-noise electronics and a He3 Cryostat.
- Teaching Assistant. (Spring 2002) Seconda Universita’ di Napoli. Taught recitation to undergraduate engineering students. Duties included illustrative problem solving, test preparation, grading, etc.
- Scientific Collaborator. (2001-2002) Italian National Research Council CNR-ICIB. Worked on the characterization of rf-SQUID based devices in the classical limit through the measurement of the decay probability out of the metastable state as a function of the external flux. Also worked on realization and testing of a dc-SQUID magnetometer for low noise applications.
- Undergraduate Research Assistant. (2000-2001) Italian National Research Council CNR-ICIB. Performed experimental research in low-temperature condensed-matter physics. Designed and realized novel Josephson devices using a multilayer fabrication procedure based on the Nb/AlOx/Nb technology and standard UV photolithography. Measured the decay probability out of the metastable state in stacked Josephson junctions.
