In Europe, take the train to Bolzano (Bozen), Italy.

Bolzano is on the direct line south from Innsbruck and north from Verona.

A week or two before your arrival, please indicate to the hotel via e-mail or phone when you expect to arrive at the Bolzano / Bozen Station.

You should ask at that time for the Hotel to arrange to pick you up at the Bolzano / Bozen train station. You should know the arrival time of your train and whether you are coming from Verona or Innsbruck.

Look for the Hotel Tianes van outside the station. The car ride from the station into the mountains takes about 40-50 minutes by car.

From the South, take the autostrada north to Bolzano (Bozen).

From Bolzano, continue north to Prato Isarco (Blumau), then to Siusi (Seis) and finally to Castelrotto (Kastelruth). After going through the town of Castelrotto (Kastelruth), you will drive up the curving road, through fields, to St. Michele where you will see a brown sign on the left for the Hotel Tianes. Take the left down the road to the hotel.

From the North, drive down from Innsbruck over the Brenner Pass from the Austrian border into Italy. You will be going in the direction of Bressanone (Brixen).

Continue south (either on the regular road along the river or on the Autostrada travelling south from the Brenner Pass).

From the Autostrada (after Bressanone), exit at Klausen.

From the exit, you will travel straight up the hill along many winding roads to St. Ulrich (Ortisei). Just before St. Ulrich turn right on the road through the tunnel leading to Kastelruth, Seis, and the Seiseralm/ Alpe di Siusi.

After you reach the top at the Pass (Passo Pantei), wind down past the St. Michael church until you come to the Hotel Tianes sign on the right.

From the regular road down from Brenner, go to Ponte Gardena (Waidbruck). On the left, you will cross the new bridge, and then make a right, following up the mountain road to Castelrotto/ Kastelruth. Drive through Kastelruth to S. Michele. After Kastelruth, drive up the curving road, through fields, to St. Michele where you will see a brown sign on the left for the Hotel Tianes. Take the left down the long driveway to the hotel.

 

The mountain roads are narrow. It's best to travel by day unless you know the road.
