WEATHER CONDITIONS
Boaters always need to check the weather. High winds, lightning, rough seas and poor visibility are things
you need to keep an eye on. Try to avoid bad weather conditions. If it doesn’t look good then don’t go out. Sometimes
you can’t avoid being out there. So if you do get caught out in bad weather make sure everyone puts on a life jacket.
Reduce your speed and close and secure all hatches. Stow or strap down any loose gear. Heading into the wind is the
most seaworthy position especially for smaller boats. Approach waves at a 45 degree angle. Your boat should be grounded
to protect against lightning strikes but please, seek a professional for this.
